Copper Phase & Ground
Bus

Phase Bus
NEPSI interconnects internal capacitor bank components with either Silver-plated or Tin-plated Copper Bus Bar. Bolted Copper-to-Copper connections are made with stainless-steel fastener. Bus is supported with ANSI C29.1-1988 deep shed, self-extinguishing A-20 Bus Support Epoxy Insulators. Porcelain insulators are provided as an option.

Copper bus supports and interconnections are designed to withstand the thermal and mechanical stresses associated with faults up to a short circuit level of 40kA.

Ground Bus
A full length Silver or Tin-plated Copper ground bus is provided through the entire length of the enclosure. The ground bus is pre-punched in the incoming compartment for connection of customer grounding conductor and shield drain wires. Bus bar connection to enclosure is made with weld-on studs to allow for maximum conductivity and minimum connection resistance. The ground bus/enclosure mating surface is cleared of paint and surface treated with an approved electrically conductive, corrosion resistant compound that reduces contact resistance.

Options:
Bus Insulation:
Bus bar insulation in accordance with ANSI C37.20-1987.

Stainless Steel Ground Pads: External Stainless steel ground pad with NEMA 2-hole lug pattern for convenient connection to customer substation ground mat. Pads have two 1/2"-13 threaded holes and are supplied with Stainless steel hex head bolts. See picture on low right of this page.

Ground Ball Studs: Ground ball studs can be provided on all phase, neutral and ground bus to allow for apparatus grounding clamps during maintenance.

Ground Bails: Heavy duty grounding bails can be provided to accommodate portable grounding equipment.

Notes
:
Silver-plated Copper Phase and Ground Bus is provided as standard unless specified by customer. Stainless steel ground pads, bus bar insulation, and ground ball studs, are not provided as standard and should be specified if desired by customer.
