As an option, NEPSI's Metal-Enclosed Capacitor Banks and Harmonic Filter Banks can be equipped with a fixed mounted or roll-out vacuum circuit breaker. The vacuum breaker has a maximum capacitive switching rating (Definite Purpose Current Rating) of 630 amps as shown in table 2 below.

A roll-out breaker is supplied as standard when a vacuum breaker is requested. While in the roll-out position, a visible break is achieved, meeting the requirements of the National Electrical Code.

A vacuum breaker would typically be specified for the following reasons:

To provide stage and bank switching when alternate switching means can not be obtained due to bank current rating.
To replace the main incoming air disconnect switch and incoming fuses when the bank current exceeds available switch ratings and/or incoming fuse ratings.

NEPSI's metal-enclosed capacitor banks and harmonic filter banks can be equipped with a fixed or roll-out vacuum circuit breaker that is rated for capacitor switching.

Notes:

Roll-out breakers are normally supplied when a vacuum breaker is requested. Fixed mounted breakers can be supplied on request.
A load-side terminal ground switch is not typically supplied, but can be on request.
Roll-out breaker is typically supplied with operating and indicating control circuit. A multifunction relay is supplied for protective functions.
