NEPSI's Metal-Enclosed Capacitor
Banks and Harmonic Filter Banks utilize vacuum
technology for capacitor switching. This technology
is best suited for multistage automatic banks
and provides for nearly restrike and maintenance
free operation. Banks rated at 2.4kV and 4.16kV
typically utilize three phase vaccum contactors,
while banks rated above 4.16kV utilize vacuum
switches.
Very large banks are typically
equipped with special purpose draw-out vacuum
breakers that are rated for capacitor switching.
During the quotation stage, NEPSI determines the
best equippment for the application based on the

- Bank/Stage size and voltage
rating
- Switch Features
- Switch Reliability
- Switch Cost
